So I got a new phone on Tuesday (10/13! a very XF-fan-ish day! so I celebrated Chris Carter's birthday by buying something for myself XD). And it's an iphone. And I'm like, holy crap how did I ever survive before this phone. It has a ton of free stuff to download, including a Sherwin-Williams app that pulls paint sample codes from hues in photographs XD I am totally rocking the iphone now. It is like a tricorder for starfleet. Even though it doesn't pay the bills or feed the animals for me (yet).

I had been saving up for several months so it was a really, really good feeling to purchase something knowing it's paid for in full. And have enough money saved also so I could buy a case for the phone, too (because it's like a squishy bug and will be DESTROYED if you don't buy a hard case for it, nyerr).

I am jonesing for this weekend to be good and also to be productive. We're getting a good dose of fall weather around here, and thank god for the first time this month there is glorious golden SUNSHINE outside. It makes me want to cook up something savory in the crock-pot and just stay at home and clean out closets. Or paint. I know I keep saying that but I think this time it's true. I found a really awesome artist on Etsy and it appears that s(he) does watercolor prints and I think that's inspiring me a little bit. Watercolor has always intimidated me because it's such a tricky medium. And you have to wait for stuff to dry. BORING. Or maybe I've just never been grown up enough to be patient and wait for it.

With the weather being as weird as it's been, my teeth are hurting like whoa because of sinus stuff, I guess. I really hope this isn't my old lady-esque "I can FEEL the RAIN a-comin!"-type of ailment that flares up every time a front comes through. I will grab the pliers and yank the suckers out myself if that is the case, because it has been really hurting.

I set my alarm to ~5:20 this morning and what a difference it's made! I've gotten a lot done and if pookie weren't asleep in the room with my hairdryer I'd have pretty hair today. My hair is slowly air drying though, so maybe it won't be limp and disgusting like it's been pretty much all this week.

TX/OU is playing this weekend and my boss is a serious OU fan. I don't get college football. Maybe it's because my alma mater is was so horrid and fake, like HEY LET'S GIVE FOOTBALL MORE MONEY AND THEY WILL SUCK LESS K THX. Even though it's known for its music and jazz program. But that is a whole other tangent, for another time.

DANG this is a long update. I think maybe that's a sign that I need to go finish getting ready for work. Happy Friday everyone! <3

June #1 on #10

I should be working out right now but I wanted to note a few things.

We watched the Redwings in the Stanley Cup finals last night, and because that makes it Hockey Night, I went to Patron for dinner, because pizza + hockey night is like the best combo evar.

My favorite pizza still is, and will probably always be, pepperoni, pineapple, and jalapeno. It's sweet, salty, and spicy. Although I can't eat a ton of it because of the IBS and because it's just generally so, so bad for you. But yum, awesome!tasty.

So I was driving home with my pizza and Jay's (vegetarian...blehh lol) in the passenger's seat and I ate a few slices of mine on the drive home. Which I think is a glaring signal to me that I need to balance out my meals more. My lunch gets eaten pretty steadily throughout the morning and on into lunchtime, and then there's about four to five hours of nothing where I'm working, working, and on the drive home I am about ready to gnaw my arm off. (Gross, btw.) This means, I think, that my diet needs modification so as to prevent me from eating things I shouldn't. And yes, I'm sure Patron falls on that list.

Now we have leftovers for days, and sigh, the Redwings are playing Friday night for a Game Seven. This frustrates me after the 5-0 shutout of Game Five, but in a poetic justice-type of way I think it's better for them. Bring the Stanley home and win on home ice, in a sold-out crowd of Redwings die-hards. It will be a beautiful game unless the Pinguinos manage to pull off some sort of soul-selling miracle. Then, I think, it could get very, very ugly in Hockeytown.

That's all I can think of. Just a little update on two of my most favorites, hockey and pizza. Awesome.

I am sitting here on the couch trying not to be a grumpy gus and there is baseball on telly. I'm not a Rangers fan. If anything, I would be an Astros fan. But that would be if I liked baseball. Or Houston lol

I woke up this morning with lofty goals. Four minutes before my alarm and I'm wide awake with a head full of stuff I wanted to do. Almost twelve hours later and I'm just...blaaahhh. Stupid overcast weather. My allergies are being obnoxious and I took Dusty to the vet this morning to get her teeth trimmed. Again. My lovely exotics vet said he can't tell if the tumor in her head has gotten bigger, or it's just her misaligned bottom teeth rubbing at the roof of her mouth causing it to look irritated. Poor kiddo. I give her special foods, extra attention, and now she gets special dental work every four weeks or so. Just to keep her "comfortable". 

I hope she is. I've only had to make that decision one other time and it was a definite, "OMG we're in the emergency vet and you've got to euthanize her now because she is dying a horrendous slow irreversible death" type of thing. I really don't know what I would do with this, just a "meh, I'll just -_- the rest of my short little life away" deal. She's not suffering, as far as I can tell...but she's not really ever been an exciting little animal. Ever since Scarlet died Dusty has just been like "-_-" all the time. Bren and PetPet are solid bonded, but Dusty is just like the third wheel roommate who sleeps all day, doesn't work, and eats all the leftovers when nobody else is around.

So after I got back from the lovely vet and put Dusty back in to sulk it off, I started watching KERA for inspiration for cooking today and I've been lounging all day. My head was killing me and I've had some caffeine and now I'm wondering what I should knock out.

January wintertime azures and grays

The girls in the office and I have kicked off 2009 by starting Weight Watchers. Oy vey, this is way too difficult. I've been on it for about four days and I think that's my breaking point. Have I lost weight? Probably. I'm not allowed to weigh myself until Saturday morning. I think as a result I've started to pick at every other aspect of myself. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, over my shoulder, earlier tonight and I was horrified. I hate it. I hate the way I look. I think in some ebb and tide I probably always have, back and forth.

I know I'm getting over that initial inspirational phase because I've started scavenging again. A slice of cheese, and then I've got my hand tarantula-creeping toward the leftover baklava. It's really hard to eat healthy at home and I try but then I backslide because it's so much easier that way. I wish every Saturday morning was like New Year's Day, a clean slate, a new rush of energy to clean and to organize.

Work is so stressful. I think if it was just work it would be maybe okay, but it's work and my OCD and being exhausted and worrying about my health and if someone is breaking into my car in the middle of the night or if I've got my canvas tote bag, because I don't want to use plastic bags at the grocery and then what if I get mugged outside the store? What will I do?...Nononono! I refuse, which is ambiguous in and unto itself.

Plus my Stars lost tonight to stupid sucky Anaheim (bahahaha no wait not Anaheim, DETROIT. Ridiculous!) so blaaahh. Icing on the poo cake.

Tired and must sleep. Tomorrow will be another glorious day. And I mean that with the least amount of bile and/or sarcasm possible for someone who is moderately healthy, paying her rent on time, and not living under an overpass, etc.

Woohoo, it's Saturday night and we're watching the Stars! Plus Tivo is being lovely so we can pause it at commercials and fast forward later.

This week has been an okay week. Sort of slow...budgets are due, which is gross. I think comparing this Friday to last, it was a lot more put together and I got my work completed in a more timely fashion. But next weekend my boss is getting married, so I have to find something adorable and sophisticated between now and then.

Clothes are difficult for me. My bottom half doesn't match up to my top half so sometimes it's frustrating, off and on, to go clothes shopping. Especially for an event in which I have to present myself in a certain manner. Or maybe I just stress way too much about it.

This morning I woke up early and got some chores knocked out (did 2.5 loads of laundry, and folded two; shuffled some old art portfolios and stuff into my study from the bedroom; bagged up some old clothes for Goodwill; fed the ratties; finished organizing my closet; etc. etc.) then went grocery shopping. People look at me like I'm nuts, walking around Walmar with my Ferry Building tote bag and picking out my food based on free range vs. organic vs. low fat, low cal, low price. I try not to be too picky, because the best stuff is really, really expensive, but I refuse to buy generic or poor quality-equals-low price on the following:

• toilet paper
• Ziploc bags
• Band-Aids 
• chicken or beef stock, or basically any type of good produce
• anything involving rat food mix.  

That's all I can think of for now, but that reminds me - I have photos!

This is the latest batch, a modification of the Suebee's Mix: Kashi GoLean 7-grain cereal, Shredded Wheat (Wheat n' Bran), Wacky Mac, and dried banana chips that I've broken into tiny pieces so they don't have too much sugar in one sitting. I put kitten food in the last batch but I'm not sure if that's giving them too much protein, so I left it out of this one.

Oh, and I gave Zig a bath last weekend. This is my least favorite part of the car wash because I start to get incredibly claustrophobic if it takes too long.

Steve and Barry's was having a sale last night, so I bought this shirt and a cute necklace on clearance for like $12 - then this morning as I was hanging laundry I walk back into the bedroom to find Rudie using it as a nap spot. The one shirt that wasn't christened with black and white cat hair...grah.

We went out to Grapevine to hit up the Best Buy because Jay bought this tiny, tiny computer to use on his research projects and the store in Grapevine still had them in stock. And it was on sale! Then I put in a request to go to the Books-A-Million in Grapevine Mills because I always look there for stamps and stamp material (where I was greatly disappointed. Who knew so many people were obsessed with coin collecting? It's taken over the stamp section - anyway. Another nerd rant for another time) and he found a book he'd been looking for. Then we went to S&B, where I was hoping to find a snarky hockey t-shirt, but alas, nothing. So not a complete disappointment...just not what I was expecting.

Anyway. Today after most of the chores had been knocked out I've been sitting here on my butt playing Sims. When did I ever decide it had gotten old? Sad, sad. I've got two pages from the SF trip scrapbooked and I've got about two or three more to go. I was also looking through my scrapbooking reading materials and found photos from the SF trip last March. Kite flying and all! It was a nice discovery. Like in high school when I'd hide $20 someplace in my room, to find accidentally six months later while cleaning. Surpriiise~

Next weekend is our Halloween party! I don't think a lot of people are going to come, but we're going to pick a scary movie to watch and play some scary video games. I say scary because it's probably going to be Fatal Frame or something like that, so I will probably just stay in the kitchen and make cute little edibles instead of watching Jay play that because it might give me heinous nightmares.
